     The Moon is Earth's natural satellite, the only one it has. It is a rocky heavenly body with no rings and no moons.
There are several theories to explain its formation, but the most accepted specifies that its origin took place about 4.5 million years ago.
A body similar in size to Mars collided with Earth. From the rubble the Moon formed and after 100 million years the molten magma crystallized and the lunar crust formed.
